A nannies job is unique. We bond with the family. When we eventually leave the family professionally, do the children understand? How can we insure that they know we still care?

What I (nanny) feel is important to instill into a child may not be important or wanted by the parents. I am here to assist not lead. Some questions children have are mommy/daddy questions. Just remember to give the parents a heads up:)

Using “I feel”statements and not questioning young children. Instead allow time for them to problem solve by stating, “ I wonder” this creates an opportunity for them to have control over the situation rather that being told absolutes. An example of this could be, (Nanny) “ I feel like this activity is becoming unsafe because

Some of the concepts I feel are important to expose young children to are; problem solving, what a priority is and that people need to practice to get good at stuff.

How many times does a child hear “no” in a day? How can we find ways to turn that “no” into a safe “yes”?

As a nanny I bond with the children and families I work with. It’s important to me to show them I care even on my free time. I need to remember to not neglect my family relationships because of that.
